The Lakenham House Guest Rooms
The Mayflower Room
The Mayflower Room is the largest and sunniest room in the house. Its lace draped windows create a nostalgic view of the village as well as views of the back deck, patio, gardens and lawn. Comfort and ease abide in this room whether reading in one of the comfortable wing chairs or resting in the king sized bed. This room shares a bath with the Hydrangea Room.
The Hydrangea Room
The Hydrangea Room is a cozy room with a fireplace and a view of the dogwood tree and entrance gardens. An antique double bed of iron and brass awaits for quiet dreams of days gone by. This room shares a bath with the Mayflower Room.
The Rose Room
The Rose Room overlooks the Brookside gardens and is our most elegant accommodation. Antique furnishings, a fireplace and a queen sized brass bed invoke the soothing ambience of another era. The en suite bathroom is large and airy with skylights that allow for a soothing soak in the Jacuzzi under the stars.
The Wildflower Room
This room has antique twin beds and will accommodate children traveling with parents or friends and relatives desiring additional space during their stay. It is located across the hall from the parlor and overlooks the East Garden.
The Lakenham House Common Areas
Upstairs Parlor
The Upstairs Parlor has four large windows that frame your views of historic Lakenham Village, especially the Lakenham Green, and the old Congregational Church. Traditional furnishings and a fireplace set the mood for quiet conversations, reading or enjoying the beauty of a sunset.
The Gathering Room
The Gathering Room has a large fireplace with a stove which creates a warm and cozy atmosphere on frosty nights. A large screen TV and comfortable furniture provide a great place to enjoy a sporting event or movie with fellow travelers. Jonathan Shaw’s pride in his home is evident in his signature in the horsehair plaster, which was discovered and has been preserved and framed by the Fullers.
The Formal Dining Room
The Formal Dining Room is connected to the Breakfast Room and shares the view of the brookside gardens. It has a fireplace and is furnished with an early 1900’s dining suite. This room is available for private parties.
The Breakfast Room
is adjacent to the kitchen in an area of the home that was once a jumble of storage rooms. This lovely dining area provides views of a stone patio built by the Fullers and brookside gardens that are bathed in early morning sun. The patio provides an enjoyable alfresco dining experience.
The Kitchen
is much older than the rest of the house and is presumed to be the original structure on this site in the 1700’s. A beehive fireplace captures the attention with its unusual shape and multiple fireboxes. As the house grew and merged with this older section, the hand dug, stone lined well was enclosed and is the earliest example of indoor plumbing in Carver. It is located in the pantry leading to the cellar way and has been preserved with the original wheel, counterweight, spillway and rope. The kitchen door leads to a spacious deck overlooking the back patio, gardens and lawn.
